Message you are right about the input and yes all the speakers have the whine. I think the amp isn't the problem - I used as short a run as possible with pretty decent gauge wire to the ground point directly below the parcel tray. I can try to pull it up even further to shave a little wire length off. I did also scrape away the paint from the ground point there.

I think the ground for the head unit could be suspect - not sure I scraped paint there and it is being shared as a ground for something else. It is grounded to a screw right behind it. Is there a preferred ground point for it?

I can't imagine what could be interfering with the RCA's along the center console. There isn't that much going on in there. They are also really high quality monster cables.

Could I isolate by grounding the amp or the HU to some other ground point, say off the car entirely?

I know I should be able to improve the situation a little by turning the amp gains down, and just compensating by turning the input gain up (i.e. HU volume).
